In a special 13-week engagement, Volitant Gallery invites artist Carol Flax and her memoria/memoir project to fill a space in our gallery with a multi-sensory experience. In conjunction with the University of Texas Blanton Museum of Art, memoria/memoir is a project about the elusive nature of memory, and creating a metaphor for how we gain, we lose and we share memories through our transitory senses and emotions. memoria/memoir is dependent on the input of stories from the gallery's audience. Like memory, this project exists in a multi-dimensional space, using an interactive installation to connect machines with human intelligence and memory with distinct visual and aural symbols. Running simultaneously with Tunnel Vision: Parading Down the Aisle, and later with Mexican artist, Armando Miguelez's, Perspectivas, Flax will provide the audience of both exhibits the opportunity to interact and collaborate through her trans-media experience that will be continually installed. |
